Collections – ornate ceilings
When Gert-Jan was a little boy – from 5 years old up – he loved drawing churches. And although he was still a little child, his drawings of churches were remarkably good and made family and neighbors discuss about how he would become a great artist or architect later. But he decided his skills were not good enough and choose another direction. He still keeps one of his childhood drawings in his study, of the church in his hometown, from when he was seven years old. It is almost unbelievable he drew that at that age.
When we first met we first bonded over our shared love for photography. Funny was how I loved taking pictures of people, while Gert-Jan was making pictures with as few people in it as possible. Buildings mostly, architecture, churches, landscapes.
For this collection we sought together pictures of ornate or church ceilings. Together they almost form a kaleidoscopic whole. (Watch out for a stiff neck…)
