Collections
Collecting doors seems to be a universal thing… So many people are doing it! I have been collecting doors since forever, not really knowing why actually but there is just something about it, and the fact that I am not alone in this says it all…
There are many kinds of doors. The old and ragged. The large and majestic. Colorful, playful, fancy and stately… I am not even mentioning the ones decorated with caryatids or other lush decorations.
On a trip to Riga in Latvia I walked in a not very interesting, kind of neglected street when suddenly my breath was taken away by the door of a house I stumbled upon… It was a big, old and stately house, 1900’s, Jugendstil, abandoned and actually ready to be taken down. A fire had raged inside it, I suppose some people objected to it being taken down for it looked as if it stood abandoned for many years.
The entrance was breathtakingly beautiful. I did not have a very good camera at that time, so my photo (top) is of bad quality.
Here below are some (1/3) of the many doors I collected through the years. Where and if I recollect where I saw the door, I have put it in the picture. If it is empty, I have no recollection. If you see one without name and know where it is, I would love you to let me know.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell the truth from a lie
Nobody knows what’s in the hold of your mind
We are all buildings and people inside
Never know who’ll walk through the door
Is it someone that you’ve met before?
